Fernando Alonso Online video Ranking: four / 5
The double world champion, Fernando Alonso has not had a very satisfying season this time around for his team Ferrari. He has failed to win any of the major races although the expectations from him were sky high. Somehow he has not been able to cope up with the team and lead them to victory. Numerous technical and personal difficulties have led to his undoing. The last race at Suzuka did not bring forth any good news for the driver either. He seemed to be out of sorts and lacked the exuberance and confidence that is so characteristic of him. The Ferrari team had earlier notified him that they are planning for a change in their ranks in the next season. Fernando Alonso himself seemed keen on moving out as well and he was considering a deal with McLaren who is another super power that has failed to deliver the goods this season.
There has been some ongoing dispute about the length of the contract that Alonso is going to sign with McLaren. He might be considering another move to Mercedes at the end of 2015 season and he has kept his intentions quite clear. His one year stint promises to be a good one for the driver as well as the team. Ferrari on the other hand will be signing up Sebastian Vettel from Red Bull Racing as a replacement for Fernando Alonso. A number of rumors are doing the rounds but the contracts have not yet been prepared or signed for the next season. With the present season coming to an end, each of the teams are looking forward to strengthen their position in the upcoming season. The plans for the new year are in full flow and this is no different for Alonso himself.

Sir Frank Williams and Patrick Head were the main figures who were responsible for the foundation of the Williams Formula One racing team and their debut was in the year 1977. Over the years the cars have used engines from some of the leading companies. However the strongest point of the team is their research and the use of advanced engineering goods has helped in escalating their performance on the track. A number of legendary drivers have been associated with the team. The new force in their ranks is obviously the presence of Pat Symonds who is hungry to make an impact with his new team. He may be at the twilight of his career but he is determined to help the Williams team become a formidable force once again. The squad has failed to win any major championships in the last few years and their position in the table of constructor’s has been on the decline. It has been almost a year that Symonds has been associated with this team and he believes that his contribution has been mainly in increasing the communication between various departments and getting the best people together to ensure a good performance when it matters the most.
The Singapore Grand Prix is being considered as one of the best performances by the Williams performance chief Rob Smedley since he has taken over the job. Felipe Massa claimed the fifth position while his teammate Valtteri Bottas failed to score any points but showed promise of doing so throughout. However his tyres were destroyed due to a steering problem and he failed to complete the race among the top few. Smedley sounded very optimistic about his team’s future in the near future. He believes that this is only the beginning and his team is going to come out with flying colors at the end of the season.

Spanish Formula One driver Fernando Alonso is seeking a massive contract worth upwards of $150 million to remain with the team beyond his current contract.
Alonso is widely considered among the greatest Formula One drivers of all time but he has had to spend a very lacklustre five years with the Italian outfit, where he has given it his all in return for little reward in terms of titles and championship victories. The last time he won the Formula One Drivers’ Championship was back in 2006 when he was still driving for Renault.
Alonso joined Ferrari F1 back in 2010 but since then, the team has struggled to produce a car that can hardly allow a driver of the calibre of Alonso to the top of the podium, let alone the Formula One Drivers’ Championship and that has led to increased speculation that the former two time Drivers’ World Champion will be on his way out of the team as he looks for a more competitive outfit with former team McLaren F1 interested in his services once again.
According to reports from various sources, Alonso has issued an ultimatum with his agent asking for a huge pay rise for his client to remain with the Italian giants.
The Italian media has reported that the Spaniard wants a three year contract with a base pay worth around $50 million a season that would make him not only the highest paid driver in the starting grid, but also in the history of the sport.
However, it is worth seeing if Alonso actually remains with the team considering the disappointment of the car this season and whether he is actually pricing himself out of a contract extension or whether Ferrari F1 would consider such a huge outlay to keep the finest driver in the team.
